Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyse of turnover status of reemployed nurses who had experienced career interruption and to provide the basic data on variety strategic development which will improve the effects of reemployment support program.

Methods: A analysis was conducted using the data of self reported structured questionnaire from 201 nurses who were inactive nurses for more than one-year and reemployed to the medical institutions through the career support services.

Resuls : 37.8% of respondents are working in first reemployment institution, but 51.2% left first reemployment institution and moved to another one and 10.9% resigned the first reemployment institution. The major reasons for turnover of first reemployment institution were low salary(31.8%), heavy workloads(26.4%), difficulties of child-rearing(18.9%) and conflict within nursing organization (16.9%). Subgroup analysis show that 61.3% of nurses aged in 20¡¯s moved first reemployment institutions, but 48.1% of nurses aged in 40¡¯s worked in first reemployment institutions continuously, and 44.6% of nurses worked in long term care hospitals remained first reemployment institutions, but 61.1% of nurses worked in acute hospitals moved first reemployment institutions. Nurses worked in first reemployment institutions continuously had high earnings, but nurses who quitted the first reemployment institutions had low salary.

Conclusion: For the continuation of the reemployment, improvement of salary are needed and more diverse reemployment programs are needed to fit various kinds of career interrupted nurses.
